Airports Company South Africa as headline sponsor of the Women’s Property Network Regional Awards in KZN
The third annual South African Women in Property Awards (SAWIPA) hosted by the Women’s Property Network (WPN) are in full swing for 2017, with regional events being held in Gauteng, the Western Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal, ahead of the national awards and gala dinner on 18 October 2017. Airports Company South Africa, as headline sponsor, continues to support the initiative in line with its commitment to equitably developing the property industry in the country.
The SA Women in Property Awards is a collaborative platform dedicated to recognising outstanding leadership, inspiration, vision, and innovation in organisations that have stepped up and shaped women’s roles within the private and public sectors. The awards categories reflect a wide spectrum of work that these deserving women from the public and private sectors are involved in. This includes CEO’s, executives and leaders in corporate South Africa, SMME’s, government departments and agencies, as well as entrepreneurs.
The first regional awards event of the year takes place on the 22 of August in KwaZulu-Natal and seeks to recognize women who are shaping the sector. Awards will be bestowed upon recipients in the following categories: Young Achiever; Professional of the Year: Corporate / Private Sector and Professional of the Year: Public Sector. The KZN regional judging panel comprises of Monalisa Sam, Founding Managing Director, Tungwa Retail Holding; Jackie van Niekerk, Chief Operating Officer, Attacq and Genevieve Naidoo – Head of Real Estate Finance Credit, Standard Bank CIB, and WPN Ex Officio Chair.
“Our nominees across the regions this year are drawn from a strong pool of women from the industry who are worthy of recognition – they may not necessarily be regional finalists, but have worked or are working their way up through the ranks, are recognised by their peers and in many instances involved in CSI initiatives or forms of mentorship for other women coming into the industry,” says Sandi Mbutuma, WPN Chairperson.
Beyond recognizing women that have made strides in the sector, October’s gala dinner will act as a fundraiser, with table sales raising funds for the WPN Educational Trust to ensure continuity in the bursary scheme into 2018 and beyond.
“As one of the largest property owners in South Africa, Airports Company South Africa is proud to continue to be associated with the Women’s Property Network Annual Awards,” says Nonhlanhla Mayisela , Senior Manager: Infrastructure & Property Development at Airports Company South Africa. “Our continued alignment with WPN affirms ACSA’s commitment to driving effective transformation in the property sector “WPN continue to do important work in recognizing the impact that women continue to have in this dynamic sector.
