St Patrick’s Day will be falling on Saturday the 17 of March 2018, if you are lucky enough to be travelling to one of the following destinations during that time then you will know what to expect from the day.
Green means party on St Patrick’s Day!
It’s may be surprising how celebrated the day is around the world, but it’s very clear that the Irish influence is strong, and we love it! One of the best places to visit on St Patrick’s Day has got to be Chicago. The Windy city goes all out for the green day by showing off their lucky charms in style, the Chicago River is transformed into a beautiful green river which is a definite showstopper.
The Big Apple is no exception to the day, New Yorkers love to embrace the shenanigans of the Irish celebrated day with a massive parade that features floats, dancers and so much more! In New York you can bet there will be a good couple bars celebrating, bonus points if you manage to find an Irish bar!
Tokyo is another destination that enjoys celebrating the day, 1000s of people take part in the day by celebrating it with a parade that also includes marching musicians and leprechauns. If you are lucky enough to celebrate St Patrick’s Day in a city that embraces the holiday, then no doubt you can expect some strange looking snacks such as green burgers and beers.
Going Green in South Africa for St Patrick’s Day
South Africa may still need to jump on the Irish train with regards to St Patrick’s Day, however it’s not an impossible task to celebrate the day. We may not have parades, but we certainly have bars that are without a doubt going to go all out!
Watch the streets of South Africa come alive with green as South Africans party their ways through the bars. If you want to stay authentic to the theme of the day and hang out at an Irish Bar in your city, then you are in luck!
Cape Town is home to the Irish watering hole called The Dubliner, where you can expect traditional Irish meals and drinks with incredible bands to keep you entertained.
Durban is home to Irish inspired bar Dropkick Murphy’s which doesn’t disappointed with its Irish influenced food and drinks, you are bound to have a four-leaf clover of a good time.
