New Zealand’s precious places

You may know New Zealand as the country that is home to the Haka, the traditional Maori war dance that is performed at sports matches but there is also more to the country than its inspiring performance. If you are a true Lord of the Rings fan, then you will know that Peter Jackson found the perfect place to create The Shire outside the town Waikato in Matamata. The set is still standing and has become a tourist destination favourite.

After exploring the home of Bilbo Baggins, find an adventure for yourself hidden in the Waitomo Caves.  The Waitomo Caves is one of New Zealand’s natural highlights, these caves are also known as the glowworm caves because of the abundance of glowworms that light up the caves, this can be enjoyed by walking or taking a boat tour.

New Zealand’s natural wonders

If the adventure bug is still going strong after exploring caves, then try out your hiking skills with a long walk at the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. The Tongariro Alpine Crossing is a 9 hour trek that is a 19.4km walk that can be accomplished in one day, you can expect to see incredible views of volcanic areas and beautiful crater lakes.

After a long walk you can bet that relaxation is needed! There’s no better place to relax and catch a bit of the sun than chilling out at the Hot Water Beach. The Hot Water Beach is located on a North Island of New Zealand on Coromandel Peninsula. You may be wondering about the name of the beach or what exactly is so special about this beach? Well when you visit the beach all you have to do is dig a hole to create your own natural jacuzzi in the wet sand during the low tide to enjoy the natural springs.

Marine life is also something to keep an eye out for when you visit New Zealand, the perfect place for a marine encounter is Kaikoura. This marine rich village is hugged by the Seaward Kaikoura Range and the Pacific Ocean, the popular activity choice is whale watching which happens all year round!
